In almost every restaurant on Crete it is the most sold dessert - the famous
Yogurt with Honey.
You can find yogurt in all supermarkets and
many butchers on Crete - the best and cheapest is locally-produced yogurt.
Yoghurt is cheap here - one kilo is €2-3. Traditionally the yogurt is made from
sheep’s milk, though more and more often cow’s milk is being used. Sometimes it
is even produced out of a mix of sheep and cow’s milk.
This already healthy yogurt is served in
tavernas with the local, famous Cretan honey. Even more delicious is the yogurt
with honey and walnuts (often candied). Other popular desserts on Crete are
baklava and halva.
